Nestled on fifteen wooded acres of beautiful Virginia mountain side, two miles from the Virginia Tech campus, Cedar Run Guest House is an excellent accommodation choice for the discerning traveler. Hosts Scarlett and Cavan offer their in-law suite as a welcoming oasis of tranquility.

This is a lovely place for a couple to escape to–a calm, light, private space that’s close to what the area has to offer in the way of trails and woodland mountain views, but also very close to town and all its attractions and amenities. The “guesthouse” is the annex–completely self-contained, with its own entrance–to the main house, where the owner, Scarlett, and her small family live. Scarlett and Cavan are friendly and well-organized, but do not intrude in any way during your stay. The photos tell you what the interior is like: uncluttered simple decor, large windows, expanses of wood floor, and large indoor plants. Ideal for yoga and meditation as well as cozy conversation and shared meals. The bed is very comfortable. If lack of privacy and sharing the single bathroom are not concerns, those sofabeds could accommodate a few more people. We were there in the most frigid part of winter, but the place was always warm (heating was adjustable) and there was plenty of hot water, lots of clean towels, bedding, pillows, Internet, and so on. There is no TV! I loved that. The kitchen has all the basic equipment, nothing fancy but all of good quality, and fine for those (like us) who prefer preparing their own meals. We have stayed there twice and will certainly come again.  Guest House Reviewed by Maura
